Mad About Football

The Football and Mental Health Advisory Group is committed to increasing awareness of mental health issues among those involved with the game and providing opportunities for those with mental health issues to get into football. The Group is working hard to see football used as a means to address mental health issues and is keen to see a broad expansion of sustainable projects and initiatives established or developed to achieve this.

To that end, the Sporting Chance Clinic, a member of the Advisory Group, has donated the Tony Adams Award which will go to the organisation, project or team that has demonstrated the most significant progress using football to support people with experience of mental health problems.  As you may remember, Tony Adams attended the Mad About Football Tournament and made a lasting impression on many of the players.

Everyone who attended the Conference and Tournament, or who works in the area of mental health and football, is invited to apply for the award.

Update: Applications are now closed, thank you for your interest.

Applications will be judged by a panel drawn from the Mental Health Advisory Group, with the winner selected by Tony Adams. All applicants are encouraged to express their thoughts on any recent experiences of utilising sport and football to improve mental health outcomes and to describe any ideas for making further progress in the future.
